If you've never heard or read Scott Sigler, The Rookie is as good a place to start as any. While the print version is rated PG-13, the podcast is definitely not for the younger audience. Scott reads or "performs" each podcast episode himself, and at the beginning of every one, he states "this book contains adult language, mature situations and lots and LOTS OF VIOLENCE. So crank up the volume, get off the babysitter and if you're easily offended I would turn it off now p***y!!!!!!"

I just received my hardcover in the mail this week, so I haven't actually "read" the book, but I have listened to it twice already. The story and the characters are complex, but you are drawn into this future world where humans and aliens co-exist, albeit not always peacefully, to play football together. Even if you're not a football fan, The Rookie has something for everyone. It's a sports book, it's a sci-fi book, it's a mobster book and it's a book about learning life lessons.

Trust me, we Scott Sigler fans don't call ourselves "junkies" for nothing. Once you get a taste, you'll be coming back for more. And more. And more. I suggest you get your next fix with Infected! ;-) ( )
