Story of the effect of the 1928 waterfront strike on the friendship between 2 boys -George ( who's father is arrested for standing up for worker's rights) and Frank (who's father is labelled a scab when he goes to work to feed his starving family). Similar to Harp in the South and other Depression era books, this one has violence, humour and budding romance with the local baker's daughter.
