If you were planning on printing out a bunch of web pages about Twitter, don't bother. This book has done it for you. It contains a variety of tips and trivia about the Twitter phenomenon and using Twitter for various purposes.

Some of the hints are helpful, most of the trivia is boring. The authors could really benefited from a copy editor, or at least used spell check. Overall, it might do as a reference book if you really need one, but bookmarking a few web pages will probably work just as well. ( )

When I picked up the book I had never used twitter. This book appears to be targeting people who are not only new to twitter but also novices when it comes to working online. As this is not my demographic, I cannot speak to how other people will find the book. It walks you step by step through many basic operations. Much of the book is made up of lists, lists of people, or of terms. I would say about 1/3 of the content is time sensitive (for example, the list of the top 50 most popular twitter users). I was hoping to learn a few things I didn't know and to some degree I succeeded. I would say that as a veteran computer user there was little this book had to offer. I have not read a book of this style before and after this experience I will probably not waste my time. ( )

Fully titled Everything twitter - From Novice To Expert: The Unofficial Guide to Everything Twitter - THE BLUE BOOK. This book by Monica Jones and Steve Soho has a lot of great info for those who want to learn the ins and outs of Twitter. If you are new to Twitter and can't quite figure out how it all works then this is the book for you. If you have a Twitter account but can not figure out how to get people to follow you, then this is the book for you. If you want to read lots of informative and interesting tweets but can not figure out who to follow to find them, then this is the book for you.
I have been on twitter for a few months now and I use it quite often though I would hardly call myself an expert, I think I am securely in the middle which is probably where most people who already have a twitter account are right now. This book starts right at the beginning teaching you how to setup your Twitter account and moves on into how and why to keep your tweets public and the different apps to tweet from. At times it felt a little elementary my dear Watson. That being said I did get a few tips and pointers from Everything Twitter like who is most likely to follow me back and recommendations for cool Twitter tools that might be useful for me.

As I see it there is only one thing wrong with this book and that is the fact that it is a book. What do I mean? Well, those lists of people most likely to follow me back I mentioned earlier are already out of date. There are also lists of accounts with the most followers and other time sensitive lists. A resource like this is very helpful but I can't help wondering if in this age of fast paced micro-blogging especially when the topic of the book is the most used service for just those things that this information would be better served on a website of it's own. Where the information could be updated as it changed or certainly more often than a traditional paper book or even Kindle ebook would allow. ( )

This book is very useful for someone new to the world of Twitter. It gives a lot of useful information to help someone get started on twitter. I esp found 5 step twitter starter program and A River of Uselessfulness very helpful. I also liked the Twictionary. This book is very easy to read and understand. This is a nice resource to someone new to the world of Twitter. I know that I have referred back to it numerous times as I was getting my handle on Twitter. ( )

Read it. Don't buy it.

It's a good resource, but it's got its problems, and frankly you can find all of this information online, since that's where is was compiled. If you see it at your local library, pick it up to thumb through, but skip it at the bookstore.

Having grown up in the days of vinyl records, manual typewriters, and black-and-white TV (all 4 channels), I’m definitely NOT tech savvy. After reading Everything Twitter I’m at least feeling confident that I could, book in hand, successfully navigate the Twitter website and get myself launched into the world of Twitter. The book has clearly written, step-by-step instructions and examples, together with an extensive glossary of terms and texting symbols. Don’t let the first chapter intimidate you—it contains a history of Twitter and information about its current status using terminology that went right over my head. Chapter 2 will take you by the hand and lead you through. Well written for the novice Twitter user, and a handy reference to its finer points for the more experienced. ( )

I've never used Twitter, and even though this book does a fairly decent job of showing what Twitter is and what you can do with it, I don't see myself using Twitter in th enear future. I think the advantages of Twitter are for marketing purposes, and I just have no need to market anything at the moment. However, I do work for a large academic library, and there are rumblings that we might start using Twitter as a way to communicate with our students. In that case, I might have to dig this ebook back out again.

On a side note, I still prefer hard copy books. I like the tactile experience, making notes, folding pages, etc. ( )

Whether you want to follow your favorite celebrity or use Twitter for professional gain, this is a great book for someone who wants to learn what Twitter is, how to use it, and find out who is most followed on Twitter. From tweets to tweebs, the novice user of Twitter can learn a lot from this guide. ( )

Great introduction to what twitter is and how to get started. Very informative and helpful to those who aren't sure what it is or what to do with it. ( )

This is a good book for the person who is new to twitter that just does not get it or wants to know more about the micro-blogging site. It contains a list of the websites or services that will help you reach your goals using twitter. It has a interesting twictionary with to learn twitter language. ( )

Here's a great and helpful book for those who are entering the interesting, fascinating world of Twitter. Full of handy tips and facts about this unique social phenomenon. I would highly recommend this book to those looking to increase their understanding of Twitter so that they can participate more fully. Five Stars! ( )

Once I heard our new president was fond of twittering I was determined to learn how to tweet. As I have a tendency to lag well behind whatever the current trends are, (I'm generationally challenged) my assimilation into the world of Twitter has been slow. However, I believe Everything Twitter will fill in the gaps of my knowledge and speed me on the way to accumulating followers from the ranks of my geriatric pals once they are technologically enlightened. There will likely be many Twitter guides to follow, but since this seems to be the first, it will likely be in for criticism as the world of Twitter evolves. The time consuming process of slogging through and researching how to use Twitter isn't really necessary as I've found Everything Twitter to be a useful guide to pointing me in the right direction. Happy tweeting! ( )

This was incredibly poorly edited. I was, frankly, schocked that it managed to get published in the state it is in. References were intermingled with the text instead of footnoted or endnoted which made for an even chunkier experience.

When I signed up for this book via the member giveaway program, they mentioned that they'd like people who were new to twitter or who had never used it to sign up. I'd never used it, but I knew a tiny bit about it.

If this book was supposed to entice or interest me, it failed miserably. It was one massive beg for attention; trying to teach others to beg for attention themselves.

I was truly disappointed in this offering. ( )

Being only 4 months into the computer learning curve I found Everything Twitter to be very helpful, plus I like to have a hard copy that I can thumb through rather than working with multiple screens or printing up information and than losing track of all the loose pages. Twitter is fairly self explanatory but it does have it's bells and whistles and this book helps you figure all of that out so you can use Twitter to your best advantage. If your using Twitter for your business or for serious networking I would definitely recommend getting this book. ( )

I got a pdf copy of this book for review, it's very good if your a novice and trying to figure out what twitter can do for you, lots of info and reminds me of those "the easy way"or for "dummies" books, lots of web sites and tips, not a bad idea if you really want to use your twitter alot or if you just starting out. I would recommend this for the fact that all the info is in one place so you don't have to google everything yourself, if your a tech junkie and know your way around a computer your probably don't need this (unless you want to save time searching), this is definitely geared towards new users. There is some very valuable information regarding twitter to be found within the pages of Everything Twitter; vocabulary, etiquette, tips, etc. Very useful chapters contain; Twitter commands, and the ‘twictionary.’ Much of the information included could certainly be gleaned via experience, but for those us that are just beginning using this new communication tool a head start is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of filler to be found within in the book. For example, page after page of the Top 345 ‘twollower’ just feels as though there was a page requirement that needed to be fulfilled. That being said, I would recommend this book to someone who is beginning their Twitter journey, and for those that feel as though they are hopelessly behind the trend. ( )

First, the good: This is as an exhaustive collection of all things twitter as I've seen. It has comprehensive lists of commands, terms, links, and apps related to twitter. If you want to learn about twitter, this is a one-stop shop to do it. It definitely lives up to the title "Everything twitter".

That said, all of the information available in this book is available for free with some searching on the web. There doesn't seem to be much original content.

And the bad: I think this book has a really biased approach to how people should use twitter. It advocates that you only use twitter publicly, not privately. Some users would prefer to use twitter as a way of keeping in touch with only family and close friends, and don't want everyone in the world to know what's going on in their life. It encourages people to be active in twitter, even though it is valid to use the service as a time-to-time kind of thing. It also strongly encourages people to get lots of followers; this may not be what everyone wants. The book is heavily slanted towards using twitter frequently and engaging with lots of people through twitter. I think that approach turns away people who are inclined to use twitter more casually.

A few other notes: there are a fair number of statistics in the book (who has the most followers, for example) that will quickly be outdated, as those numbers change daily. Also, the quality of writing is mediocre; there are no major grammatical errors, but it reads like a Wikipedia article. Not very engaging.

I would only recommend this book if you want to learn everything there is to know about twitter and don't want to spend the time finding that information on the web. If you want one source for it all things twitter, this book does the trick. ( )

I'm afraid I remain unconverted. I signed up to Twitter one time and after that every time I tried to sign in it said I didn't exist, but even aside from that I didn't get hooked like everyone else seems to have been. I don't like the thing and I don't understand the appeal.

I hoped that this book would help me understand, maybe convert me... it didn't. However, it was very informative and I highly suggest it to anyone who likes Twitter, but is just looking for more information or tips and tricks. It everything from a short history of Twitter, to a dictionary of Twitter terms, to tips on how to get more followers, to a description of how to use Twitter on your mobile device. Everything I can think of that I'd want to know is included, so I recommend it without hesitation. ( )
