Barnes discusses two major points in his book, The Pastor as Minor Poet. In part one of his book, Barnes states that the pastor must know his identity in the church. In part two, Barnes makes the case that the pastor must know not only the Bible well but his congregation too. Both must be carefully studied and understood if the pastor is to show Jesus to his congregation and open the door for life change to take place. It is an easy and enjoyable read. Well worth the time. ( )
