Wie aus den zahlreichen deutschen Büchern und Filmen bereits bekannt ist 007 auch in diesem Teil der Mittelpunkt des Geschehens. Sein Auftrag liegt darin, den Goldschmuckler Auric Goldfinger in seinem Plan stoppen soll die Goldreserven der USA, im Ford Know, durch eine Atombombe wertlos und sich damit noch viel reicher zu machen. Bond trifft Goldfinger zum ersten Mal in einem Golfclub, doch dieser erkennt James erstmal nicht. Nach und nach erfährt 007 immer mehr über den Einbruchsversuch Goldfingers in Ford Know, der vor hat sämtliche Wachen dort mit einem Girftgasangriff aus der Luft auszuschalten. Im laufe seine weiteren Ermittlungen erfährt Goldfinger aber von Bonds Identität und nimmt diesen gefangen. Doch James kann sich wieder einmal befreien und somit auch die Pläne des Bösen vereiteln.
Im Großen und Ganzen ist auch dieses Bondabenteuer wieder einmal nur eines von vielen. Er entkommt eine Notsituation nach der anderen, bekommt am Ende wieder die wunderschöne Fremde ab und ist für alle der Retter. Das Buch selber ist in seiner englischen Fassung nicht gerade einfach geschrieben, doch kann man sich auch mit einfachen Sprachkenntnissen nach und nach gut einlesen. Im Vergleich sowohl zur deutschen Buchfassung als auch zum Film, ist allerdings einiges viel genauer beschrieben. So kommen im Vergleich der Bücher die Beschreibungen der Charaktere viel genauer rüber und man kann man sich auch besser in das Buch herein denken. Allerdings ist auch, wie so oft im Vergleich zwischen Buch und Film ist, einiges sehr weit von einander entfernt. So muss beispielsweise Bond im Buch sich im entscheidenden Kampf lediglich am Leibwächter Goldfingers vorbeikämpfen, bevor er auf diesen trifft. Im Film hat Bond aber zuerst noch aller möglichen „kleinen“ Handlanger vor sich, bevor er auf den Leibwächter und zuletzt auf Auric Goldfinger trifft.

Meine endgültige Meinung zu diesem Buch ist also, dass es war nicht für jeden ist, da man doch sehr viele Begriff zum Beginn übersetzen muss, doch ist es ein weiteres, spannendes Wert aus der Reihe der Abenteuer von 007. ( )
