There were , as expected in a short story collection, some very good stories and others that were so so. With one or two exceptions, I'd never heard of most of the authors in this collection. ( )

I loved the mix of stories and authors in this book. Some of the stories were so well written I goggled the authors to see if they had written anything else. Wrap up in a blanket, grab some cocoa and enjoy some really great reading. ( )

A solid collection of thriller short stories. I bought it because five of them were nominated for CWA Dagger Awards. Some stories are pretty good, some are only all right. All in all a good collection to bring on a holiday (if you can lift it!) ( )

An interesting collection of short stories, well worth the purchase. I haven't read the first one, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it! ( )

Thriller 2, edited by Clive Cussler, is an original anthology of short stories by the likes of Jeffery Deaver, David Hewson, Lisa Jackson, Ridley Pearson, R. L. Stine and Simon Wood (to name just a few), all in the wide-ranging genre of "thrillers." In this case, that can mean everything from covert military operations to police procedurals to action adventure to murder mystery. As with all such volumes, I liked some stories more than others, but generally speaking they were all pretty well written - although I could see the end coming from miles away in many cases. My main quibble with the book, though, lies with the introductions to each story, provided by editor Cussler - I felt that he gave far too much away in his trying-to-draw-you-in descriptions of each tale, it just annoyed me no end. So if you chose to read the book, just skip the intros - or go back to them after finishing each story - it'll save you some aggravation! Somewhat recommended, not terribly highly though. ( )
