Work detailsHit List by Darcia Helle (2009)
None. None. First rate detective thriller. This gal really knows how to spin a good yarn. Helle's beautiful dark haired green-eyed private investigator Lucianna Martel (Lu), and her ex-cop uncle Vinnie, steal the show in this dynamic mystery thriller. This book has it all good guys, bad guys, dirty cops and even some romance. I didn't want to put it down. Hit List should be at the top of your reading list. ( )A suspenseful thriller, will keep you guessing until the very end. Good plot. Good character development. I loved this book with its blockbuster premise. What do you do if your sane mother one day loses her mind? Ian hires a beautiful investigator to look into his mother's disturbing behavior. I was reluctant to put the book down, wanting to know where the story was going. Darcia Helle takes readers down a road of twists, turns and dark family secrets. The story also has a sweet romance. I didn't figure out where the plot was going, yet all the clues were there. What is the hit list and why are people being targeted? Do they deserve it? Read this book to find out the answers - you won't be disappointed. I had requested this book more than a month before I read it. As good as my memory is, I did not remember the synopsis from the LibraryThing Early Reviewer list. So as I started to read it I thought I was going to find an average romance novel. Which isn’t a bad thing, I like romance novels. And with as many novels as are published each year, average is not a bad place to be. And then the tedium of Luci forcing herself to be “professional” in spite of her attraction to Ian began and I thought it was going to be a slightly-less-than-average romance novel. Before long, however, we learn that Corrine’s delusions may not just be in her head. The story takes a twist, and then a turn. And we are caught up in what is building into a good detective/suspense story. Luci’s uncle injects both muscle and humor into Luci’s life and the story. And, of course romance builds between Luci and Ian. This story kept me guessing and caught me off guard with several of the twists and turns it took. I was glad that not everyone had a happy ending. Overall, a great summer read. I liked it! You can find more at http://wp.me/pAjhm-rx A real page turner. This is a book I did not need a bookmark for, I couldn't put it down. A thoroughly enjoyable ride, if you enjoy crime stories. It had a good plot line that was slowly revealed throughout the storyline, leaving mysteries to discover all the way till the last pages. A sweet romance is slowly woven into the action and doesn't feel out of place. A modern psychological thriller, good to the last page. Highly recommended. no reviews | add a review
