Excellent French English dictionary from Collins. In two colours, so it makes looking up words very easy, and the dictionary also covers grammar points such as genders, plurals, irregular verbs, etc. Packed with examples of how words are used and it also has a "Language in Use" section and a 24 page map section in colour at the back ( )

I've worked my way through academic works on gender theory in French, and been able to puzzle out their meaning with only this dictionary as my companion. Well suited to my needs, if weighty enough that it's a perilous thing to drop on your foot. Yes, I speak from experience. (8th edition) ( )
