A popular expose of his life and work, based on Protestant historians. Incredible history; fascinating, damning evidence about him that is quite contrary to the popular image. Many quotes from his own mouth. Essential history! 393 pgs, PB

I had really wanted to read a book about Martin Luther from a post Vatican II Catholic perspective. When I could not find such a book I should have left it there, instead I picked up this Pre-Vatican II piece of work. If anyone does have a recommendation of such please PM me.

There was a lot of useful information in there. Particularly around the lust for life and its pleasures that Luther enjoyed. I was appealed by the idea of "May the Lord bless with you a hatred of the Pope"

However, O'Hare is not a great author, particularly not for a mainstream audience. Granted anything written before 1950 seems to be written at too high a level for my liking, I suspect because the Internet and public school dumped me down, but Msgr O'Hare does repeat himself a lot. I don't know how many times I said "you just said that two pages ago"

I also don't think he was being compelled truthful. No bold faced lies, but there were many many times that he referenced "non-Catholic" attempting to lead the reader to believe Protestants had said these things about Luther, when in fact a number of them were Atheists and other secular non-christian writers.
