Loading... Among the Missingby Richard Laymon
I really liked this book. It was a fun, quick read. The twist at the end was easy to predict, but getting there was a great time. ( )Back for more, I pulled out another of Laymon’s books. Once again it follows the pattern of the others I have read in that we need a violent murder(s), murderer trying to tie up loose ends, and somehow get as many people naked as possible. As a novel, not bad and actually had a nice twist that I didn’t really expect. But the overt sexuality for no other reason than to provide some overt sexuality takes away something from the novel. Still have a few more Laymon novels sitting on my shelf, but if this is the standard pattern, I fear I’ve read them all already. I'd rate this somewhere in the middle, not one of Laymon's best books, but nowhere near his worst. A quick but overall unexceptional read, his colorful characters make the story's progression interesting and engaging, even if his twist ending isn't as surprising as you might like. |
