Most middle schoolers are learning about Greek Mythology so it is a perfect recommendation or book to choose as a read-aloud. The book offers a more in-depth look into Greek Mythology and keeping it entertaining, while also being educational over the topic. ( ) This books introduced me to Greek mythology and awakened my love for it. Rick Riordan wrote an amazing story with some of my favorite characters ever. I have read those books multiple times and they always manage to win me all over again. They are an absolute must read and even though they are kids’ books I still recommend them to everyone! When you trap a Tiger: The older sister is Lesbian. The mother is portrayed as being unable to be trusted with the stresses of the main character. Any Korean that is used is actually used incorrectly, and there are only slight references to any Korean culture. So much sneaking around by the kids, even climbing out of windows and lying to their single mom about it. In another book (not specified): one of the characters (Nico, son of Hades) is LGBT and develops a crush on Percy Jackson. The author stated that the 4th book definitely has LGBT themes and she is a part of that community. no reviews | add a review
