Unable to sleep during his family's long winter nap, little bear cub wonders out of his cave into the snow and makes friends with a little wolf pup.
  hgcslibrary | Nov 29, 2009 |
Summary: Mother bear explained to little bear that bears hibernate throughout the winter no matter the size of the cave. But little bear listened to his mother and tried to go to sleep. When the others began to snore, little bear woke up and looked outside. He saw something that he heard of but never saw, something called snow. After a while he began to roll around and playing in the snow. Soon he realized that he was no where near his cave and cried for his mother. Then a small voice began to talk to him and assured him that he would help him find his cave, but they wanted to play before going home. After a while, little bear forgot about his mother and the cave. Mother Bear was awoken and found that her cub was gone, and she soon stumbled upon a Mother Wolf who was looking for her pup. Both soon calmed down and began to hid from the hunter but find their little ones. They both began to look for their young one. Soon Mother Wolf found their track. After a little tracking, they went to the den and saw the cubs and a little pup curled up with them. They were so relieved

Personal Belief: This is a heartwarming story about two friends who play with each other despite their species. The mothers work together to find their young and find them all together.

Extension: This is a book that could teach students how cooperation with other can be used to double your chances of find what is bing missed. This book could also be used to help students understand that friendship can involve people who are different. This book also has some interesting facts about bears in the back of the book. ( )
