Clementine is adorably wacky and caring - i wish I'd had a friend like her when I was young. Can't wait til I can introduce my daughter to this one! ( )I enjoyed this book very much but I kind of got the feeling that this was primarily because I was such a fan of the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary. I can completely understand why Frazee would want to create a similarly delightful series of stories for young girls like those that so many women my age enjoyed in their youth. On the other hand, it almost seemed like Clementine was simply running into some of the same old tales as with Ramona, only this time she had her friend Margaret to get her in trouble instead of a big sister like Beezus. Clementine is a tough kid very different from her brother that is easy, she is helping her father fight the war of pigeons Pennypacker does an excellent job at portraying a young girl with ADHD. This is a book that all children can relate to, especially with its humor. I love that Clementine is the tom boy in this book who thinks about things in a much different way than you would expect. She really really wants to grow a beard? This book is completely original in that most young girls would not think the same way as Clementine. I think that you can compare Clementine books with Ramona books in a classroom setting. Each child would be able to compare two different books and describe why they like one book over the other. LOL. No wonder kids love Clementine. Reminscient of Ramona. We need more titles in the series. no reviews | add a review
