( )Lion of Macedon is a historical heroic fantasy novel. Set in and around ancient Greece, it follows Parmenion, a half Spartan, half Macedonian warrior. Forced to leave Sparta where he was considered a half blood and outcast, he studies under the Spartan general Xenephon, and eventually becomes a great Strategos (general) sought after by many nations. Eventually he journeys to Macedon, where he helps King Phillip II to start building an empire to leave for his son...Alexander the Great. This book is an excellent and gripping fantasy novel. Much of the book is based upon historical fact, and people that once lived millenia ago. While not having the epic scope of some fantasy novels, it makes up for it in other areas. Highly recommended. no reviews | add a review
