It had all the prerequisite plot devices: divorce, puberty, affairs, teen sex, and mental breakdowns. To top it all off, it was set in the 1980s. I remember enjoying Blume's childrens books when I was young, and unfortunately I felt like that's what I was reading again, only with sex and foul language thrown in. Blume can write very realistic children, but this talent does not translate well to adults. Much of the dialogue fell flat, sounding like monotone in my head. To her credit, there was some funny banter between Margo and Andrew, I felt real pity for B.B., and the children (Sara and Michelle) were very believable and sympathetic characters. All in all, Blume should stick to what she does best: children's fiction. ( )Journal entry 1 by SKingList from New York, New York USA on Saturday, March 05, 2005 RSPCA Thriftshop. Chermside. Shouldn't be surprised since I don't think I've ever met a Judy Blume book I didn't like. It's interesting because it's 20 years old, yet it could easily apply today or in thirty years from now. Characters are wonderfully written and at times I felt like it was me trying to adjust into a new life, rather than names on a page. I like Judy Blume. This book is a quick fun read and delivers some nice scandal. Here's a cut and paste review for you: Book Description Margo and B.B. are each divorced, and each is trying to reinvent her life in Colorado-while their respective teenage daughters look on with a mixture of humor and horror. But even smart women sometimes have a lot to learn-and they will, when B.B.'s ex-husband moves in next door to Margo... no reviews | add a review
