The stories are okay, but many are so similar as to become boring. The "miracles" and magic are repetitive, and the language style would not appeal to contemporary children.
I know a fair number of "classic" fairy tales, and did not recognize a number of the tale-tellers, which means to me that children will recognize even fewer, which takes some of the significance out of the tales. ( )
