I found two things in a copy of The Complete Father brown bought recently- a ticket stub to the California Angels spring training against the Oakland A's in 1994 and a postcard of Picasso's "Bullfight" dated 1991. ... read Holt but I know I've heard the name.
Summer of my German Soldier- I remember reading this when I was nine or ten.

I stopped reading Father Brown because it became too repetitive. Now I'm well into The Night Watch by Sarah Waters. Some pages are very disturbing, but the story and the writing is gripping. A very striking book, for the moment. The Innocence of Father Brown - G. K. Chesterton

Both of these books were parts of a "Father Brown" Omnibus I picked at the library. And both can't be satisfyingly summed up because they are collections of short stories. Let just say that they all deal ... #186 That sounds very like the Father Brown omnibus I just finished after about 2 years of reading. Great for dipping into between novels but not really something I think anyone would want to read all in one go (I just kept wishing for him to stove in the villain's head with a cosh now and then) ... ... hard science, with a lot of concepts that left me puzzled.
After all this computer talk, I decided to read the lighter Father Brown omnibus that I borrowed from the library. I like it, but I suspect that 1000+ pages of Father Brown will be too much for me. He's delightful, but he's no Hercul ... ... The Napoleon of Notting Hill, which was not so easy for me to understand. I love Orthodoxy. If you haven't read the Father Brown mysteries, they are quite fun. It wasn't me (Crime / Mystery) (1)

Gilbert Keith Chesteron's Mysteries of Father Brown have a lot of Catholicism in them; he was a convert to the Faith. Besides these two, the other mystery authors that I have read, seem to be dependent on what P ... #17 Miss marple is sort of in the style of Chesterton's Father Brown - having seen so much of the world they have a very good feel for the liklihood of people to do evil, even though they themselves are almost completely 'pure'.
