Lots of intensely felt adolescent angst, well done.

12 stories in the book. I like "Emmy", "Stand Strong" but most of all: "One Shot, Don't Miss" (which makes me think I should read more stories & comics about the current war). There is saddness in these stories but the characters choose their own direction.
High constrast graphics, mixed illustration styles. ( )

I highly recommend this collection of short stories about teenagers learning about, coming to terms with, or fighting to stay alive with their superpowers. This is the real "New Mutants" experience for the 21st century. A great read. If one story falls a little flat, just read a few more pages. New story starts!

P.S. ALL the stories don't deal with superpowers. They also deal with just teenagers facing strange, or not so strange, situations. ( )

The story lines are about late-teens-to-early-thirties crises of separation from home, lover, or way of life. Early on, protagonists have scary psychokinetic powers, such as killing with a spoken word or concentrated rage and shape-shifting according to others' expectations.
