Just finished The Widows of Broome, which is reviewed dreamlikecheese in 1010 Category Challenge : dreamlikecheese's 1010 Challenge (Dec 24, 2009, 5:54am) Thanks for the suggestion pamelad! I've been hunting for a copy of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep for years but it's impossible to find a second hand copy anywhere. I may have to splash out and buy a new one...or try the library. Dropping in to suggest Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep for your dystopian category. Another that's not quite dystopian, but a brilliant book is War with the Newts. Adding The White Tiger to my list and putting The Inheritance of Loss on the bottom of the pile. Thank you. Blade Runner may be a good film, but it's a poor adaptation of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. A good adaptation should surely remain mostly faithful to the source text. Or at the very least, it should make you want to read the source text. Some sf films "based on" sf stories or novels have ... ... njoyable)

I tend to think especially of PKD's stuff. Blade Runner is an excellent movie, and while it has a lot in common with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? it's ultimately a different story (nor can I imagine anyone other than Stanley Kubrick managing to make a faithful adaptation of it - ... ... but that was so long ago I can't remember if any of them dealt specifically with intimacy issues. Also, I haven't read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick to know if it should be included.
