What a great book! Miss Fox rides her bike to school one day, and one of her students asks why she did that. She explains she is trying to help the Earth. This message gets around to all the students around the school, and everyone does a little something to their life to help conserve and preserve the Earth. Although the characters are talking animals, the realistic part is that we should all do a little bit more to help out the Earth. ( )

Miss Fox shows up to school one day, but she is on her bike. This surprises her class and this leads them to discuss how they can all can go green. After many suggestions, the class comes up with some realistic options and then they get to put to use their knowledge throughout the week. They all get very excited, and towards the end they have helped the whole school go green!

This book is really great fantasy fiction. The story's characters are all characterized animals. The way they live and the setting are both very realistic, and the details in the pictures add to the realism. This book is relatable to students as many of the students' conflicts in the book are present within a child's life. I really also appreciate how the children find realistic ways to go green instead of going to extremes. ( )

I liked this book for many reasons. The storyline was very cute and realistic. Right when you open up the book, the inside cover is filled with “Tips For Going Green!” One of the tips is “Don’t let water run while you brush your teeth.” This subtle text feature really helps draws the reader in. I also really liked the illustrations. Different animals such as a frog, moose and wolf narrated the story. This helped add some humor to a topic that most people see to be boring. It is quite funny to see a wolf picking up trash! ☺ The message of the book is to well, GO GREEN! Throughout the book, the characters show ways of going green that are relatable to children. This would be a great book to read to children on Earth Day. Overall, the book did a great job of addressing environmental issues and I feel as if it would inspire others to make a difference in the world. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 080755166X, Hardcover)

When Miss Fox shows up at school riding her bicycle, Mouse asks, "Do you have a flat tire?" "No," Miss Fox tells her students. "I am going green!" Soon everyone in the class is working to keep the earth healthy. Mouse takes shorter showers (and does her singing after!); Bunny brings a cloth bag to the supermarket; and Possum turns the lights off when he goes out. And Miss Fox's simple act has ripples even beyond her own students... the principal starts riding his bike, too, and soon the whole school is going green! As in Peace Week in Miss Fox's Class, Eileen Spinelli and Anne Kennedy have combined their talents to make a serious subject both funny and inspiring.
