Night-Night, Little Pookie is another winner from Sandra Boynton! Truly, every baby/toddler book from this author is a delight. Cute pictures, gentle humor, perfect for nighttime reading with your little one. ( )

24 months - another of the Pookie books which O always enjoys but I get tired of quickly. They are just not as fun as Barnyard Dance, 15 Animals and Pajama Time etc. ( )

I love Little Pookie. ( )

This time, Pookie is off to bed instead of a birthday celebration. He and his mom perform a nightly ritual which will look familiar to many parents of young children: get in pajamas, brush teeth (and nose), await mom's goodnight kisses, and finish up with a bedtime song. My girls enjoy reading about their routines, and the Pookie books invest habitual events with humor and interest. The pictures are adorable, and the text is lilting and imparts its own humor, from the beginning when his mom calls out "Oh, Pooookie!", to the end when Pookie whispers "Night night, little mommy". Also, the song at the end of the book, which presumably Pookie's mom sings, is set off in a different font, so that it is both a part of the story and stand alone. I love this, because whenever I read it, I know that I am singing this love song to my own girls, and the words capture a mother's heart. Because this book is so literally a great bed time story, we choose it often. Sandra Boynton's gift with the young reading set is undeniable. ( )

Sandra Boynton writes some of the best goodnight books ever written. "Good Night, Little Pookie" is no exception. This is a darling tale of a mischievous little pig (Pookie) who is very reluctant (and playful) about going to sleep. I read this to my son almost every night (he's a lot like Pookie). Love it! ( )
