Any Dr. Seuss story is good for children because of the sounds in each word. Although some of the words are made up they use actual word sounds that are usually combined. This can be good practice for students who have trouble identifying word sounds. I also liked this story because of the awesome things this child got to do on their birthday. He got to pick out the tallest pet, eat what he wanted and even swim in a giant fountain. You could even make an activity out of this story for school. One activity could include having the students write a journal entry on what their dream birthday party would be. ( )
