Enjoyed this one - bit of a flaky reason for world domination but maybe not seeing as 2016 is/was a total roller coaster. Liked the actor character. Hope he comes back. ( )

Sigh nina is totally unlikeable in this book and why is it that the americans are always bad? ( )

This was a typical McDermott read. Lots of chasing, fighting and escaping with interaction between Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase, the main character-married couple. Some interjection of humor was also good. Fans of Matthew Reilly books will enjoy this book especially when Nina & Eddie explore the Osiris pyramid. ( )

Prepare to suspend any disbelief you might have had as Eddie Chase and Nina Wide return to dig up artefacts previously thought to be mythological and save the world from meglomaniac bad-guys. This time Eddie and Nina are off to Egypt to uncover the tomb of the god Osiris. This book is no different from any of the previous ones in the series, except the location and the names of some of the characters have been changed. If you want a clever, original thriller with depth of characters and smart plot twists then this is not for you. If you want an easy read that plays out like a big budget film script then this is right up your street! ( )

Archaeologist Nina Wilde has discovered the lost city of Atlantis, the tomb of Hercules and the Sword of Excalibur – tantamount to a scientist inventing a time machine, limitless clean power and an anti-aging serum. However, with the convoluted reality of adventure novels, Nina is broke, discredited and unemployed – when she finds evidence leading to the lost pyramid of Osiris.

Cultists, corrupt officials, mysticism, inept archaeologists and ruthless killers clutter the pages of Aussie writer McDermott’s 5th Wilde and Chase story, which makes up in breakneck action for what it loses in literacy and believability. Strictly a once-off road trip read. ( )
