Work detailsNerd in Shining Armor by Vicki Lewis Thompson
None. Nerd in Shining Armour, Vicki Lewis Thompson’s first book in the Nerd series, is set in Hawaii. Jackson Farley finds himself the third wheel on a plane trip to Maui when his boss Nick Brogan takes one of the firm’s secretaries, Genevieve Terrence, for a meeting and an overnight stay. At least, that’s what the plan was. But apparently Nick had other ideas, and suddenly Jackson finds himself trying to land a plane in the ocean near a tiny island. Meanwhile, Genevieve’s mother, Annabelle, is convinced something has gone wrong and enlists Nick’s business partner Matt Murphy to search for her daughter by sea. Jackson manages to be Genevieve’s Nerd in Shining Armour when they are wrecked on the island. Plenty of humour, some intrigue and quite a bit of hot sex. If it moved just a bit faster it would be perfect. This was my first (and probably only) venture into the romance genre of books, and I was very satisfied with the book that I chose to read. That being said, I have no clue how romance novels are supposed to normally play out. This one was definitely abnormal in at least one or two ways. I think. The thing I was most surprised about in this novel was the character development. I was lead to believe that romance novels were two people hooking up and a lot of sex. This one, at least, was not. They had advanced backstories, emotions other than lust, and reasons for why they were the way that they were. Jackson was even color blind, which oddly enough played a fairly big part in the characters getting to know each other. I was very impressed, to say the least. And I was completely hooked. I stayed up until odd hours reading it and I even tried reading it while my friends and I were watching a movie, but then I felt awkward for reading about naughty things while the rest of them watched Tangled. Overall, it was pretty dang awesome. I approve. A very cute, sweet romance to read. I began reading this book after I saw Kelly Ripa recommend it on her show Regis and Kelly. The book starts off with the main characters that work together, one of which is a total geek with a huge crush on his female co worker. They end up in an unlikely situation and sparks start to fly. Vicky Lewis spares no details and will let you in on the love scenes with intensity. This book was a guilty pleasure for me. Genevieve Terrance is a Tennessee redneck, turned wannabe sophisticate, whose mama financed the family’s move to Hawaii after selling her prized pair of Elvis’s jockey shorts. Jackson Farley is a colorblind computer nerd in need of a woman. When a business trip goes awry, the two end up stranded together on a deserted island. You can probably guess the rest… I recently attended a webinar on romance novels during which one of the presenters indicated this series as a personal favorite, so I thought I’d check it out. I read through it quickly, there were a few laughable moments, but generally it was a little too clichéd for my taste. Also, the backwoods redneck speak was irritating beyond belief. no reviews | add a review

The main character was ridiculous, the story was predicable. *yawn* (
