Our Enduring Spirit: President Barack Obama's First Words to America is about Barack Obama's brilliant first speech to America as the 44th President of the United States. Obama became the President on January 20, 2009 and gave his first speech. What's so great about the book is the illustrations. They are so beautifully done and take my breath away. Also, on each page pf Obama's speech, the have certain words in script and in a different color. These words are significant to the author for some reason. Words like: peace, prosperity, hope, unity of purpose, etc. These are all great words for the nation to hear. This would be a great book for children to learn about past presidents, or if they are just learning about Barack Obama. Children will learn how important Inauguration day is for the Presidents and how they need to give a hopeful speech to America the day they take office. Obama did this beautifully. I really liked this book. ( )

"Our Enduring Spirit" brings President Barack Obama's first speech to the nation to life in this brilliantly-illustrated children's book. While President Obama's words are strong on their own, the beautifully-painted pages are what really stand out about this book. Each page allows readers to become immersed in a world of inspiration and hope for a better America. ( )

This was the first speech given by the 44th president. It is something that everyone could enjoy. The book colorful cover and pages make the book inviting and a page turner. A teacher could use this use this book when going over the presidents in history class. I would recommend this book for a personal read and maybe for research a student is doing on Barrack Obama. ( )

President Obama became president on January 20, 2009. Millions of people gathered at Washington, D.C. and by their televisions to see who their new President was. He delivered a speech to America as our leader. He wanted the country united, honest, and mindful. This could be implemented in all classes to show the President's first speech. ( )

As this book is President Obama's Inaugural Address, the illustrator and his illustrations are the larger focus. The Inaugural Address is broken up into many pages and each section has a specific illustration/drawing that depicts words and phrases from that specific part of the Address. The illustrator does a great job creating his drawings to elaborate on parts of the Address. The pictures help bring the Address to life and can catch the audeince's attention by creating questions of what specifically those illustrations mean. There are also words and phrases from the Address that have different font, size, and color. I think to put an emphasis on these words and phrases helps keep the Address engaging to the reader. The illustrator's note at the end will help the reader fully understand why it was decided to present the President's Inaugural Address in this manner and the entire Address was presented at the very end in basic font which I thought was very useful as it shows nothing was left out in the earlier pages.
