They want him dead to secure their place on the throne. When he was very young he was married to Queen Adara, she needs him to help her get throne secure. It's interesting and fun and the characters are quite well written. You can almost see the desperation of Adara as she tries to do the best she can for her people and her land. It was good, but it wasn't really what I was in the mood for... random fake-medieval-European-country royalty? Meh. But the story was fairly good, and I DID like reading Christian's story. Adara was a good match for him! (
