Jaime Hernandez may be one of the best comic artists working, and this story demonstrates him at his best. Hernadez's art is very clean and simple, mostly pen-ink-lines, and drawn in a way that echoes old Archie Comics, but his true strength is in his charcters and how much emotion he can put in a single spot of ink. This book will appeal to all comics fans (Manga readers may not immediately warm to the simpler, less expressionistic art) and also to readers interested in soap-opera type romance and action. This is also notable for its broad cast of latino characters, challenging and subverting many urban latino stereotypes. The Death of Speedy in one of the most notable stories from the long running Love and Rockets comic book series. ( )
