This story is about a boy who misses his friend. He goes to his garden and picks one thing that starts with each letter of the alphabet to put in a basket to take to his friend. This is great for children learning their abc's. It has in bold all of the words that start with the alphabet letters in order.

Pierrot decides to bring gifts to his friend Pierrette, so he looks around the garden and starts gathering edibles. So far, so good, until we reach U, at which point the author apparently ran out of inspiration and just picked random words for Pierrot to find. Well, it's an alphabet book, what do you expect?

Text isn't that wonderful, and the illustrations are clear, but not that terrific. It's a middle-of-the-road sort of book, really. ( )
