Joe Sacco returns to Bosnia, this time at the end of the war. He interviews various people still traumatised by the war, including a burnt out fixer and an artist-soldier. I always found Sacco's depictions of the Bosnian conflict to be much more disturbing than his Israeli-Palestinian coverage. In Palestine, the mutual hatred is at least understandable. This work is neither as chilling nor as focused as Safe Area Gorazde, but still conveys the sense of a society struggling to reform after a dreadful conflict. ( )
