Willy's Pictures is about a gorilla that likes to recreate famous art pieces. In the book, he recreates famous art pieces like American Gothic," "The Birth of Venus," and "Mona Lisa.". Anthony Browne includes many other famous pieces of work as a tribute to art history.

I don't I'll ever understand Browne's obsession with primates. Reading Willy's pictures was so fun for me. Analyzing each picture and making connection to works of art that I am already familiar with. Such great fun. ( )

This is a fantastically clever book by a talented lover of art. Mr. Browne redoes several significant paintings, not all of them familiar to me, playfully and thoughtfully and briefly comments on them. Great fun and wonderfully educational; it gives you permission to create your own stories about art. ( )
