Work detailsThe Search by Nora Roberts
None. A dog trainer for canine search and rescue on a island, a serial killer on prowl and a rude, dishy carpenter. Intriguing, only serial killer was bit too easy to tame and rude dude quick to fold up. I wish Simon Doyle's character was too hasty to crumble. That said, it was an interesting, fast read - that came by my way thanks to my team member, her book with strong recommendation to finish it. ;) I got this in a box from my mom. Then I got a phone call that she was so glad I got the box, she read this book and since she usually reads romance stuff I wouldn't touch she was incredibly excited that it was something she thought I could read so we could discuss it. Who can say no to that. Do yourself a favor and don't read this book. Read the front flap if you must and you'll know how it begins and ends. Without all the 500 plus crap in between. But I had to bump it a star just because it was such a sweet sentiment from mom. And now if anyone has anything nice to say about it please let me know so I don't completely disappoint her in our discussion. SHE: is a tough but vulnerable search and rescue dog trainer! Who once escaped from a serial killer! HE: is an artistic but grumpy furniture maker! Who is just trying to get some work done! WILL THEY: be able to catch the new serial killer? and define their relationship? and have sex on a table? YES OF COURSE THEY WILL. The Search by Nora Roberts 4 Stars Synopsis: Fiona Bristow trains search and rescue dogs, and is the only survivor of the Red Scarf Killer. Now, just as her life has taken a new romantic turn with sexy wood artist, Simon Doyle, Fiona has become the target of her tormentor’s apprentice. Can she outwit this vicious murderer and save his latest victim, or will she perish in the attempt? Review: Nora Roberts is a gifted storyteller and this is no exception. The witty banter between her characters is particularly enjoyable, although I must say that Simon’s brusqueness takes some getting used to. Nevertheless, his chemistry with Fiona is potent and their relationship develops in an engaging way. The serial killer plot is where the tale takes a troublesome turn. To begin with, his identity is revealed far to early and I prefer following clues and figuring it out for myself. Second, his motivations are indistinct and poorly detailed, and finally, despite the excellent build up of tension throughout the book, the conclusion is disappointing and anti-climactic. Recommendation: These faults reflect my own personal peeves and that said, this is a highly entertaining read for fans and newbies alike. no reviews | add a review
