I have Sam Savage's latest book, The Cry of the Sloth, on my 101010 list, and I've been hearing good things about Firmin as well.

Haven't restructured yet, but have read #23, Firmin, a book about a literary rat in Boston and his life. At first I found the writing a bit too much, but after I got into it I really liked the book. I loved the descriptions of the surroundings, and the book titles Firmin attached to certain ...

>46 SqueakyChu - try Sam Savage's Firmin for something along similar lines. My review's on the product page - it was odd, sweet, heartbreaking, intelligent, all at once, and though I was a bit sceptical at first I ended up loving it!

Just finished (and reviewed) Firmin by Sam Savage - odd, sweet, literary, well worth a read.
