A selection of Carl Sandburg's poems from several books. Sandburg, one of my favorite poets, was a creation of the flat prairie, strong wind and rich black earth, and the people working to create a life from them. Perhaps only Robert Frost is his equal in my mind, and as different as their styles were, I find the two very similar at heart. ( )

It's not so much his command of form that attracts me to Sandburg's poetry (he didn't command'em very well), it's his willingness to explore ideas. He's an idea poet. And for that, I'll always read his poetry and like it. ( )
