Like The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey, this is a novel tackling the mystery of what happened to Edward V of England and his little brother Richard - i.e., did their uncle Richard III kill them, and if not, who did? Unlike The Daughter of Time, this novel takes place in the mid-1530's, with a hero who goes around talking to old people who actually remember the events of 1485. It offers a solution that I haven't seen elsewhere (though I haven't read much on the subject), and also gives a picture of the turbulent times when Henry VIII was wrenching England away from the Catholic Church.
