The fourth volume of the Bunny Drop series continues to explore the different meanings of parenthood and how Daikichi and Rin grow together - Rin in a literal sense, as she loses her baby teeth and attends elementary school, and Daikichi more metaphorically as he gains more adult/parent friendships and accepts that the changes Rin has brought to his life are more-or-less permanent.

This makes a wonderful end to the series, as it very strongly echoes or ties up the story lines introduced in the first volume. Rin and Daikichi are now a family and are ready to face any difficulties together. However, from what I understand, this is only the start to the Bunny Drop series - the fifth volume begins with a time-skip of ten years, and we see Rin in high school. I'm a bit sceptical of this plot movement, as the fourth volume is such a satisfying conclusion to the story, and I'm not sure what else needs to be said, except, perhaps, for a brief epilogue that shows Rin and Daikichi's happiness and well-being in the future.

I think I will consider this to be the "end" of the series for recommendations, because it is such a wonderful ending, unless the following volumes prove to be equally delightful. It is difficult for me to imagine anything that could top these four books, though, with how well this last one ties things up. ( )
