Awesome. ( )

Gosh, I'm trying to find a way to get into manga, but it's just not happening. I kinda like the storyline, but it was difficult for me to follow who was saying what, which wasn't helped by the muddy, claustrophobic art. It hooked me enough that I'm going to try the movie to see if I can parse things better there. ( )

Nuasicaa is a girl in a post apocalypse world, where the forests are poison and strange and death lurks everywhere. Humanity are few and live in small enclaves like that of Nausicaa. Her home is the Valley of the Wind and war is coming. Unknown to her she is going to have a pivotal role to play in the future.

I liked it, while it has some pretty vicious moments there's a sense of wonder about it that Miyazaki has in many of his other animations like My Neighbor Totoro and others. ( )

Miyazaki writes an amazing fantasy tale as a manga which in my view ranks right up there with Tolkien. Nausicaa is the story of a young princess who has a powerful connection to nature and a strong belief that peace is possible in a post-apocalyptic world covered by a poisonous forest across vast reaches of radioactive wasteland. The patches of human civilization war against each other, caught up in human politics and ambition. The art is beautiful and the storytelling engaging and unexpected. ( )
