Loading... A Color of His Ownby Leo Lionni
This is a book about a sad chameleon that has no color of his own. He changes colors anytime his surroundings change. He finds his solution in another chameleon that could always be the same color as him. I just love chameleons! They are so fascinating, and children just love learning about their ever-changing colors. This story tells about a chameleon that does not feel special. He wants to find a color of his own, but it seems as thought he just can’t. He feels alone, and hopeless at times until he finds another chameleon friend just like him. Together they find happiness in being different, and that you just have to accept who you are and be happy. This book is such a good science resource. One could tie it to a lesson about animals and how they are all different. The book introduces various animals that all could connect with a science lesson. Tigers, elephants, fish, birds, and pigs are introduced. It talks about how each animal has it’s own color. The book also discusses the environment, and how chameleons can camouflage themselves with their surroundings. The book talks about the seasons as well. The chameleon goes through the seasons trying to disguise himself with the environment but it changes as the season does. This book is good for students to learn about science standards. I would recommend this book to early elementary classrooms because it is a rather simple book to read. It offers vibrant watercolor illustrations, and a cute chameleon as the main character. The book also offers life lesson, in that you don’t have to pretend to be something you are not, you just have to be happy being you! Genre: This book is a good example of fantasy fiction because the chameleon makes a new friend and talks with him. Plot: The Chameleon feels bad that he is the only one who does not have his own color. He sits on a leaf to try to remain only one color, but the leaf changes colors, then falls off. He meets another Chameleon and they become friends. Now Chameleon does not feel so bad Media: sponge paint 1.動物にはそれぞれの色があるのに、カメレオンは周りの色と同じ色に変わってしまい、自分の色がないと悩んでいました。 別のカメレオンに出会い行動を共にし、色は変わっても2匹は同じ色で幸せになりましたという話。 自分の色 'A color of MY own' 深い意味のある言葉だと思いました。 2.If I remain on a leaf,I shall be green forever, and so I too will have a color of my own. 3.250字 4.5分 This book is about a little chameleon who cannot understand why he does not have a color of his own. He goes on a search to find his own color. Finally he finds a friend that changes colors the same way he does and they are friends forever. I like this book because of the way the author describes how most animals have a color of their own, but chameleons change colors with their environment. It would be very easy for a child to relate to this book. I also like the lesson about self acceptance that this book teaches. In the classroom I may read this book aloud as a part of a science lesson about environments. I may also get a chameleon as a class pet and change the environment weekly to show how it would change. This a wonderful book to read when there are some students in your class who feel like they are different. The chameleon is upset because he doesn't have just one color. He doesn't feel like he'll ever be like anyone else. He meets another chameleon who tells him that if they stay together then they will both change to the same color and they'll never have to be alone. They learn to accept their difference and embrace it. One day a chameleon wanted to be a color of his own, just like all the other animals. He decided to sit on a green leaf, so he could stay green forever. When the seasons changed, so did the leaf, and the chameleon changed once again. He met another chameleon who decided if they stay together, they will be the same color together. So they lived happily ever after with each other. Leo Lionni puts many colors in his books, which are good for children to be able to see. Kids go through this same feeling about being alone and not having their own look, but then he met a friend and they both had the same look together. Very good book to read to children. This is a story of a chameleon who gets frustrated because he changes color with everything. Every time he is on/by something, he is the same color as it. Eventually, he meets another chameleon who explains to him that it is the way they are made. They become friends and stay together. The chameleon learns to accept it. I would read this book to 1st-3rd graders, mainly because in that age group children begin making friends and fitting into groups around them. This Chameleon seeks someone like him who doesn't stay the same color like all the other animals. Everyone else has a certain color, and look about them except him. In the end he finds a friend who sticks with him and tells him they can change together. It shows we all need a friend like us in life, no matter how different we are just so we arent lonely. I think this is a great book to read when school first starts to get children motivated to blend together and make new friends who may not be just like they are. It helps their confidence level when they make new friends because they have each other to rely on. Definitely a must read!!! This book is Chameleon, Chameleon is sad because all the animals he sees have a color all of their own. He changes colors every time he moves to a new place. Chameleon just wants a color like everyone else. One day he found a much older and wiser Chameleon who told him to stick by his side and no matter where they went they would always be the same color. He was happy! http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons... this is an awesome website because this author has help set up lessons plans on teaching literacy! You can choose from k-2 up to 9-12! Great thing to have if you are running short of ideas! This book is a great read for k-1 grade. Its about a chameleon who wants a color of his own. Even though most animals have a specific color, he does not. He changes color everywhere that he goes. At the end of the story the chameleon finds a chameleon friend that shows him that even though he might not have his own color, life will be better if the two of them stick together. So for the remainder of the story both chameleon's stick together, changing colors happily wherever they go. A Color of His Own shows students that even though the chameleon changed colors it was no different than any other chameleon. So students are no different than any other student. This book is a good example of a fantasy picture book because the story could not happen in real life. A chameleon can’t talk and it cannot change into its color to many of the ones the one in the book did. This book is about a chameleon who wants to be like the other animals and stay one color. But he is a chameleon so he can change his color and he is not very happy about this but by the end the chameleon accepts himself for what he is. Media: Pen, ink,and watercolor Age Appropriateness: Primary, Intermediate This fun book shows children how a chamileon can change his colors to adapt to their environment. In this story, a depressed chameleon realized that he did not have a color of his own and could never because he would always change colors according to his surroundings. After the journey the book took him through, however, he realized that this fact was not that bad and in fact, quite exciting. good story about being different good moral lesson At the beginning of this book it shows different animals and their colors. Then there is a chameleon who changes colors every time he touches something. He wants to find his own color so he sits on a leaf. As the seasons change the colors of the leaves so does he. Age Appropriateness: Primary/Elementary This is a fantasy book. It consists of personified animals and their story is made up, yet believable to children. Characterization: The Chameleon is a flat, dynamic character. He is flat because we don't know much about him. He is dynamic becuas ehe changes from a sad chameleon who has no "color" to a happy Chameleon whose color is every color. Media: Ink/paint. I like this book a lot. I think it teaches are children to accept color of people. It is a very easy read. A chameleon decides to stay on a leaf so that he can remain green. As the seasons change he realizes that this is an impossible task. He meets another chameleon and decides companionship is more important than what color he is. genre: realistic fiction This book talks about different colors that a chameleon can be. It explains that a chameleon changes color depending on what they are standing on. The protagonist in this book is the chameleon not being able to find a color of his own although it is overcome when he finds a friend chameleon. “A Color of His Own” by Leo Lionni is a picture book about a chameleon who is struggling to be his own person. The book describes how “parrots are green and goldfish are red” and that they have their own unique color. Chameleons change their color to blend in with their surroundings. The chameleon meets another chameleon and they changed colors together and lived happily ever after! “A Color of His Own” is a great book! I remember reading this when I was a little girl so when I came across it, it brought back a flood of memories and gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. It helps distinguish the different colors. I think that this book will help children that are struggling to find themselves and are trying to be like the other children they are around. Classroom extension would be to read this book to the children on the first day of school or any other time that the children are struggling to be themselves. This book can also help with the understanding of colors. A camellion can change his colors and so can our kids in life. A great experience filled with learning and disposition displayed in this book. I really enjoy this book. My toddlers enjoy seeing the colors and hearing the simple words. I enjoy the message of tolerance and difference and not needing to fit in. Plus it's just fun and easy to read. |
