It uses words like Big Brown Bear, blue bull, blowing bubbles, etc. The illustrations in this book help with the B words. It is not overly illustrated, its simple nad to the point. I loved this book as a child, and I still enjoy reading it and seeing if I can memorize it. This book is about how they use words that start with the letter b and repeat themselves. At the end of the book all the words they used that started with letter b made the bird's balloon pop. This book is a good example of fantasy, because personified animals/creatures begin a journey through town while acting through "b" words. The book may seem realistic to children, because the creatures undergo situations that could happen to any human in real life. The author also embedded alliteration throughout the book to keep young readers engaged, as well as practicing phonemic awareness. Age Appropriateness: Primary Media: Watercolor virtually every word in this book begins with B. That's the point, but it can make it hard to read. Also, since it leaves out article and such, it doesn't help if you're using stories to teach kids sentence construction, etc. It is amazing how much of a sentence you can string together using words that start with the letter 'B' ('and' occassionally gets used too). A hilariously fun misadventure for young readers no reviews | add a review
