How on EARTH does this have an almost 4 star rating on GR? I still have no idea what this book was about and I don't remember hating a classic as much as this one in a LOOOOONG time. Terrible and boring and pointless. I feel like a teenager writing that, but I stand by it. ( )

A classic that I loved since I read it for the first time at age 5. My favourite till today is Rikki Tikki Tavi, the mongoose who makes friends with beings so totally different from itself and protects them with wit and skill.

Oh, and Bagheera, of course. Every child should have a Bagheera. ( )

Now Rann the Kite brings home the night
That Mang the Bat sets free –
The herds are shut in byre and hut
For loosed till dawn are we.
This is the hour of pride and power,
    Talon and tush and claw.
Oh, hear the call! – Good hunting all
    That keep the Jungle Law!
