Namık Kemal Külliyatı'na Vatan Yahut Silistre ile giriş yaptım. Daha önce defalarca filmini izlediğim için olay örgüsünün tamamını bilmeme rağmen kitabı yine de etkileyici buldum. Namık Kemal'in bu eser sahnelendikten sonra neden sürgüne yollandığını daha iyi anladım çünkü eser sahnelendiğinde geniş halk kitlelerini kolayca coşturma potansiyelini taşıyor.

Yazılış tarihi olarak Şinasi'nin Şair Evlenmesi'nden 12 yıl sonra yazılmış ama iki eserin kalite olarak aralarında dağlar kadar fark var, Türk Tiyatrosu çok hızlı gelişmiş. ( )
