As other reviewers have said, this seems odd - but less so when one realizes this is just how innocent little children translate how they see the world into words that their grownups might be able to understand. Awfully sweet. ( )

this was a slightly confusing and strange read...but the illustrations and some of the crazy prose were enjoyable. ( )

One of Sendak's earlier works, this is a carefree, whimsical journey of friendship as seen and felt through the eyes of children.

The illustrations are in black and white and cute, simplistic and in fitting with the story line.

It is a cute book that won an honor for children's books -- The Blue Ribbon Award. ( )

I thought this poetry collection was really insightful and very expressive; but written in words that a child might use. It's that attribute that probably won this book the Blue Ribbon award. ( )
