This is one of many series books in the Time Warp Trio. These books are fantasy but wonderful for those children with a creative imagination. Students will enjoy reading about their adventures with their magic book! This one in particular is good for those student that are interested in knights.

Why I chose this book:
I picked this book up at the library, looking for books that would interest my after school remediation class. I couldn't get them to focus on our reading lessons. I brought the book with me and began to read a chapter each time we met. The kids couldn't wait to sit down and have me read another chapter. I saw kids that hated reading begin to enjoy it.

Review:
This book begins the adventures of three friends (Sam, Joe, and Fred). Joe receives an unusal gift from his grandfather...a book. Everything seems normal, until one makes a wish. The boys are wisked back to the time of King Arthur and realize that not everything you wish for is wonderful. This book is a must read that will have you laughing from the first lines. After you read it, you'll want to read the rest of the series. ( )

The premier title to this engaging early reader series designed specifically to encourage boys to pick up a book and read, but quite appealing to girls as well. Scieszka is at his zany and humorous best.

This is a good example of fantasy because the 3 boys are warped back to Medieval times through a book. Once they arrive, they defeat a black knight, a giant, and a dragon in unique ways such as with a stick. The boys are able to return to their home through the same book.

This chapter book is all about magic, knights, dragons, and monsters. The main character and his two friends open a magic book, make a wish, and are transported back in time to battle with knights and visit King Arthur. The author reveals the characters' personalities through their interactions and the narrator is Joe, who tells some thoughts also. The book is surface level and would be enjoyable for young boys.
