This is the 9th installment in an ongoing series. The setting is a small resort town in North Carolina and the heroine is the owner of a mystery bookstore. Murder and mayhem seem to follow her wherever she goes. Usually I find these cozies to be fun and interesting reads. I am not sure what happened with this one. The quirky characters, all of whom I have adored in previous books, just annoyed the life out of me this time. There was not one character I particularly liked this time. The mystery itself was sort of interesting but there was at least one plot twist that was so forced, it was three shades of ridiculous.

I won't let this one sub-par book turn me off to the series. They have all been delightful and I hope that this one was just a fluke. ( )

This was a bit more complex than I expected, and although I enjoyed the Hilton Head setting, I'm not too big on amateur detectives, and there were far too many suspects---my head was spinning. The ending was splendid however, it really had me fooled. It's a good beach read. ( )
