The publishing portion was not as interesting as the reading portion. One of the most insightful books I have read on publishing is So Many Books :Reading and Publishing in an Age of Abundance by Gabriel Zaid. The numbers are just staggering. For instance, only 85 million Americans are thinking about writing a book.
