This book is so good. You won't be able to put it down for anything! It has good characters (not good in the sense that they are perfect...but more as in interesting) and you'll wonder what goes on in Sugar Hill Hall until the very end. ( )

This gothic historical story has been one of my favorites since childhood. It is the tale of recently orphaned Emily Luccock, who finds herself a slave to the evil Mrs. Meecock in a house where a stolen peppermint is a high crime. Great fun, and still a good read after 20 years! ( )
