I found this book when I was up in Alaska over the summer. It is the Alaskan Tundra version of The Gingerbread Man. Sourdough is a popular staple in Alaskan culture. The main theme of the book is craftiness is important. I like this book and my neighbors love it. The repetitive lines make it an easier read especially since the names of a lot of the animals are more difficult in nature.

I like this book, it is a fun and different variation of the Gingerbread Man. For example, I like how she tailors it to the Alaskan Tundra. She uses Alaskan animals, like marmots and muskox. She also uses traditional wear like mukluks. I also like the illustrations. For example, they are simple in color. Another example of why I like the illustrations is the detail. The fur on the muskox was pretty curly, something natural. A fun new story. ( )
