James Padgett (1852-1923) was a lawyer in Washington, D.C., whose life drastically changed when his wife died in February 1914. Though a practicing and faithful Christian in the Methodist Church, when Helen (his wife) died, he decided to experiment to see if he could receive a message from the spirit world and the love of his life. During a seance that Mr. Padgett attended, Helen did come and give a message to James; but James also received something he was not expecting, namely, information about his own psychic abilities. Thus, at the age of 62, James Padgett, a practicing lawyer, began to receive messages from the spirit world through the process of automatic writing.
A friend, Dr. Leslie Stone, was present during most of the time when James was receiving communications from the spirit world; and Stone wrote in his memoir in 1958 that James Padgett received as many as 2,500 spirit communications.
In 2006 I began to read the letters from the spirit world received by James, and in the same year began to self-publish the Padgett messages (as they are now commonly called). This is one book of a 5-set edition of the Padgett messages, and is only one publication of many formats that I have published to make available to the public the writings of James Padgett.
