I enjoyed reading this book as a child, but the real reason I bought it as an adult is because of the Edward Gorey illustrations. ( )

This is one of the posthumous Bellairs books, completed by Brad Strickland. This particular tale stars Johnny Dixon and Professor Childermass. Overall it was ok. Having read so many Bellairs books (over and over and over again) in my childhood, I do find they begin to found very similar. It was entertaining but only mildly so and wasn't really very suspenseful. Disappointing lack of spine-tingling from the series that had me losing sleep at night years ago. ( )
