Review: Joe and his two best friends, Fred and Sam, are given a magic book that they use to transport them 275 years in the past to find buried treasure, but all they get is in trouble with Blackbeard and crew of pirates.
Genre: Fantasy
Critique: This is a great example of fantasy, because while it still seems plausible, there is a lot of magic involved. While time travel could often be considered science fiction, this book does not use science, but rather magic from spells and chants to go back in time. The are historical elements, like about pirates and Blackbeard, that are also tied into the plot of this book. ( )

This is a fantasy because it is about three boys who get a magic book that helps them travel in time. In this story they are sent into the times of pirates and they encounter Blackbeard, luckily they are able to escape back to their room just as he was about to kill them.

This book is called "The Not So Jolly Roger".The reason i like this book is because its about pirates. The reason i like pirates is because there really strong and they can protect you.tThe reason i dont like pirates is because they mean and they can kill you or they can make you a slave.Thats why i like this book and dont like this book.

After Fred wishes for buried treasure, he ends up getting himself, Sam and Joe stuck at the top of coconut trees on a deserted island. Or not so deserted after they see a ship coming in the distance and realize it's Blackbeard, the pirate. They end up doing a rather good job of convincing him that they are magicians, but end up walking the plank anyway. But like in every siituation, they narrowly escape and the adventure continues.

This is one of many series books in the Time Warp Trio. These books are fantasy but wonderful for those children with a creative imagination. Students will enjoy reading about their adventures with their magic book! This one in particular is good for those student that are interested inpirates.
