This novel is told in part by Kerdoch a proud and successful Klingon farmer and colonist. A mysterious alien is burning the colony’s fields and leaving alone the natural plant life. The Enterprise under Kirk and the Klothos commanded by Kor answer the colony’s distress call. And Kirk resolves the problem without a major invasion. It was here that the Day of Honor began: the Klingons and Federation have one treaty only at this time, but it is here they become aware of each other’s honor.
“Kerdoch had always thought of the humans as enemies, but today with Kirk and Sulu he had discovered they had honor, just like Klingons. He had given Kirk the same look for the first time that McCoy had just given him. As with any day of battle, it was also a day of learning. For both Klingons and humans.”
This and the first Day of Honor book with Alexander on a British Navy ship are best books of this series. ( )

Kirk and Commander Kor of the Klingons compete for an M-class planet ideal for farming, but the two form an uneasy alliance when another alien fleet attacks the Klingons and the Enterprise. A good adventure, with an interesting relationship of long-standing respect and hostility between Kirk and Kor. ( )

The Day of Honor is celebrated throughout the Klingon Empire. But every tradition had to being somewhere... Signi Beta is an M-class planet ideal for farming. The Federation wants Signi Beta, but the Klingon Empire has the stronger claim. Captain Kirk hates to lose the planet, especially to his old adversary, Commander Kor. Their mutual antagonism turns into an uneasy alliance, however, when yet another alien fleet attacks both the Klingons and the U.S.S. Enterprise. Now Kirk and Kor must rely on each other's honor -- or none of them may survive to wage their war again.
